Match Report - 02 Sep 2026, Avon Bowling Club (est 1924) Pickering Triples 2 lost to Warwick Boat Club
Final home game of the season which l thought wouldn’t start because of the rain, then l thought we we would get thrashed as we were 30 - 8 down at the halfway point. However, a general recovery and a winning rink were reasons to be cheerful by the end. Bruce Amos became our 9th new player of the season but, by luck of the draw, he, Kim and Martin ended up playing their captain and premier triple so it wasn’t a winning debut. Ken, Nik S and Mark recovered from 10 - 2 down at the halfway mark to only miss out by 4 shots. The returning Andy Rickett, Paul Smith and Andy Spink did even better turning a similar deficit into a narrow but decisive 17 - 16 victory. Rod moved the catering up a notch, pate sandwiches, almonds and mini rolls, Sandra ran the bar in her usual efficient but friendly way and a final thank you to the squad members who weren’t playing but turned up to support the team (and their captain) in some quite murky conditions.
