AVON BOWLING CLUB
Avon Bowling Club is embedded in the local community and enjoys the great sense of pleasure that the game brings.
The highly successful Community Bowls Programme is at the heart of this experience. Throughout the season, each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, bowlers new to the game get a friendly introduction to the game.
At the competitive level Avon bowlers can be seen to good effect in the Kineton League, the Pickering League (two teams) and Ladies Herald League. Club Friendlies have seen teams from Kettering and Swindon visiting the pretty riverside location.
With Avon membership topping 80, the social side of the club is a defining feature. When the game's over members have fun. There are regular quiz nights and BBQs where music making is to the fore. Theatre is another passion and next month (Sep26) sees a party heading to Stratford's Bear Pit. The production is 'Home I'm Darling' directed by Avon member, Jacquie Campbell.
As the 2026 season draws to a close Club Finals are a feature of early September (Sunday and Monday 6th and 7th). Throughout the winter months coffee will be taken each Friday at the Sports Club and social calendars will be filled.
The season 2027 will be keenly anticipated and after the serious competitive bowling the fun will recommence.
