Match Play

There are lots of opportunities to play and Full Playing Members are eligible, and are encouraged, to represent the Club in a variety of competitive league and friendly matches between April and September. 

These include;

  • Kineton and District League (KDL): A full programme of home and away mixed matches against local clubs. These normally take place early evening throughout the summer usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The format is three mixed rinks.
  • Pickering Triples League: The Club fields two Men’s teams in the Pickering Triples League, with the matches being played on most Wednesday afternoons throughout the Season.  The format is three triples.
  • Ladies Friendly Matches: There is a comprehensive calendar of Ladies friendly home and away matches which normally take place on a Monday afternoon
  • Ladies Herald League: The Ladies Triple is played on Friday evenings mid-season
  • Club Friendly Matches: These are played either mid-week or on weekend afternoons against local clubs or touring clubs. 

There are also opportunities for skilled bowlers (Men and Ladies) to play representative matches for;

  • The Kineton & District League [KDL],
  • South Warwickshire Bowling Association [SWBA],
  • Warwickshire Vice-Presidents (Mixed),
  • Warwickshire County Bowling Association [Men and Ladies Sections]
Club Competitions
Full Playing Members also have the opportunity to win silverware by entering the Club's Internal Competitions.  The draw usually takes place in May with matches being played throughout the summer.  The finals take place in September with the winners receiving trophies at a presentation evening held at the Clubhouse.
Community Bowling
Twice a week throughout the summer, on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, volunteer Full Playing Members run supervised Community Bowling sessions to encourage newcomers to come along a have a go.

For a small fee, equipment, two hours tuition and refreshments are provided.

Everyone is welcome, all you need is a pair of flat shoes and some enthusiasm.
Social Events
Away from the green, the Club enjoys a thriving social scene hosting a wide range of events for Full Playing, Social and Junior Members and their friends and family to come together and enjoy some entertainment at the Clubhouse. 

Whether it's a quiz night, a mid-summer party or a local or national celebration, Avon Bowling Club social events are guaranteed to be fun-filled occasions so should not be missed.

All forthcoming social events will be advertised on the Club website and posted on the Clubhouse noticeboard. 
Supporting Local Charities

This year (2025) Avon Bowling Club are proud to be supporting;

                  The Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank aims to prevent and relieve poverty in Stratford upon-Avon and surrounding areas, in particular, but not exclusively, by providing emergency food supplies to those in need 

                                                   

Warwickshire Hearts are a charity of local volunteers that provide Community First Responders to West Midlands Ambulance Service, attending 999 calls in the South Warwickshire area, including: Coventry, Kenilworth, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Stratford upon Avon, Gaydon, Kineton, Wellesbourne, Snitterfield, Long Marston, Illmington.
