Match Report - 19 Jul 2026, Avon Bowling Club (est 1924) Club (Mixed) lost to ISE Bowling Club, Kettering
A friendly and enjoyable game with our regular visitors from ISE but no great shakes in terms of bowling prowess. We managed to lose all six rinks. The Ken Basnett, Irene Smith, Dean team and Linda McKinlay group were ahead with 6 ends to go but learning from Thomas Tuchel I sent out instructions for them to hold on to the points we had and to play blockers only for the last 6 ends.
This made the prize for winning rink a bit tricky but everyone took it in their stride at the after match celebrations. Thanks as usual to the bar, raffle and catering teams of Hathaway, Bentham and Bloxham and to my last minute substitutes Sheila B and Andy R. ISE enjoyed themselves and promised to return. I promised them a change in team management.
