Match Report - 18 Aug 2025, Avon Bowling Club (est 1924) Pickering Triples 1 lost to Southam
After losing to league leaders Southam away 38-66 in June, this was an excellent, closely fought, contest.
Carl, David B, and Peter C got off to a slow start and, after losing a 5 on the 5th end, were then 13-4 by the 10th. Then, they mounted a great fight back to finish, ahead of the other two rinks, with a 15-15 draw.
Dave W, Paul and Peter got to a flying start and were 9-3 up by halfway. Despite losing by a 3 and a 5, they held their form and won 21-12, giving us a cumulative advantage of 9 shots.
Ken, Terry, and Andy joined us from their usual Pickering 2 and experienced tough opposition. They performed well and after 17 ends were 20-8 down. With one shot to play in the 18th end, they were holding 3, potentially giving us a 47-47 draw. Unfortunately the Southam skip’s last bowl cut this to 2, resulting in 46-47 loss
